The End of the Story

Telluride Music Co. there in the middle
So that old beater guitar hanging on the wall of Telluride Music Co.? Here's the rest of the story. We left the store a little after six on Saturday after chatting with Warren. I prattled on about wishing I had at least played the dang thing. Tim patiently let me go on. At some point he said, "If you want it, get it."

I explained why I shouldn't. "I haven't even played it!"

"So?"

Tim was not going to be the reason I didn't buy that thing. He is the more fiscally responsible of us, but he was not going to stand between me and that guitar. :)

I kept talking out loud (shocking, I know) straight through Sunday, and Tim remained patient. By the end of the day I had talked myself into buying it. I called first thing Monday morning to inquire. Warren, the guy I talked to was not working that day. I started explaining the situation when the gentleman I was talking to said, "We don't work on commission. Do you want to talk to the owner, Tom? He'll take care of you. He can get back to you this afternoon."

By 5:00 p.m., Tom had not called. I started getting nervous. I called around 5:30 since they closed at 6:00. Tom thanked me for getting back to him and I began my saga. Snag number one--they didn't have a Kent. He described the guitar on the wall, and it matched the description of the guitar I wanted. Tom said, "That's a Kay, not a Kent. We don't have a Kent." I must have misheard Warren on Saturday because he was describing "my" guitar.

Snag number two--we were no longer in Telluride and wouldn't be home for two and a half weeks. Telluride Music Co. does things the right way. I asked if they could delay shipping--not a problem! We'll ship it on that Tuesday, it should be there by Thursday. I asked about amplification and playing out. Tom told me they could put a pick up in and since I was buying the guitar from them, he wouldn't charge for labor. And oh, buying in Colorado means no sales tax and they shipped for free! Sold.

What a great thing to come home to! We did get in earlier that expected, which meant I was antsy to get the guitar when we got home. Tom shipped ask stated. Additionally, we experienced a FedEx delay (no surprise). The guitar arrived Friday, October 16. I was giddy and nervous having never heard the guitar. It plays like a dream! Rich bass, chimey highs, perfect action. I love it! I got to play it at church on October 18 and last Sunday, November 1! So fun! The mix isn't great, so it's hard to hear the guitar. We had a technical glitch and didn't catch the song that would have showcased the guitar better.
