We couldn't take pictures inside the palace with the exception of the grottos towards the bottom. The Borromeo family still owns and lives in the top two floors of the palace. It is simply stunning.

While we have seen some amazing sites, this may be my favorite for beauty. I loved the experience in Venice, but this view with mountains, the lake, the garden and the palace--gorgeous. I fallen in love with the place,
Once again, the diversity of this country is quite surprising. After we left Lake Maggiore and Isola Bella, we pulled into Santa Margherita with just enough time to unload our bags before we got on a water taxi to Portofino--a town that has seen its ups and downs as a fishing town, a lifestyles of the rich and famous for a while, now to a beautiful little spot that still draws money, but maybe not big names. The port is as lovely as any we've seen, though. When we pulled into the port, Tim and I and a few others from the group headed up to a fort on top of a high hill to get an overview of the port.
This trip continues to be amazing!
