We Found What We Were Looking For

Tim is decidedly a mountains guy. I still go back and forth between beaches and mountains. When there is a grand backdrop for the beach, it makes it even more difficult for me (for instance, many of the beaches on the Big Island of Hawaii, and much of the California coast). But the key word in the title of this post is "looking." I enjoy listening to the waves crashing on the shore, but I could look at the mountains all day. Each place and angle brings a different view. There were several gasps as we rounded corners (me not Tim), and when we got to Jackson Lake Lodge, it was as I remembered it when our friends Ken and Sally Best took us there several years ago. You come up the stairs and the large picture windows at the back of the lobby frame Jackson Lake and the largest of the mountains in the Teton Range. Breathtaking. We walked out on the patio and squinted into the sun at the mountains. We lingered and took it all in. After a good thirty minutes of that, we decided to eat at the diner in the Lodge. The food was okay, but I'm not sure much will measure up after the meal we had on Tuesday evening. We came back to our cabin and rested for a bit before we walked back up to the Lodge to enjoy sunset.

I'm really not sure how much more blogging I'll do here at the Lodge since everything will revolve around different perspectives of this:

Tomorrow, we'll make our way to a couple of spots were the mountains are most often photographed. We'll head down to Jackson and eat lunch, then find our way to a trail or two in the afternoon. As nice as the pictures are, they just don't do justice to the majesty of the Tetons.

Yep, those are the mountains. Glad you made it safely. How about some photos of the lodge? That'd be fun.
