Santa Fe Charm

I think I could live in Santa Fe. First, I would have to develop an iron stomach. Why? Because I really like the red chile. That stuff is addicting, but it's hot. I would have to find foods other than Mexican and New Mexican or I would gain 100 pounds. I'm not even kidding. I really enjoy the green chile as well. It's hot also.

We started the day at the Farmer's market where we ate a small breakfast of...well, neither Tim nor I can remember what he called it. It was an all natural, organic whole wheat flat bread. One had apples and elderberry, the other had strawberries and rhubarb. Tim and I both liked the apple and elderberry best.

From there, we walked down to the Plaza and roamed for a while. We walked a couple blocks off the Plaza to the Georgia O'Keefe Museum. There wasn't a lot of art work, but it was interesting. We walked back the Plaza and toured the The Palace of the Governors' and New Mexico History Museum--both interesting.

Today, Tim let me relax. When we got back to the hotel, I went to the pool for a bit and Tim took a nap. (Actually, I took a nap, too--just at the pool.) We just got back from The Shed, a James Beard winner in 2003. It was good--especially the red chile, but I just couldn't order another enchilada with red chile sauce. I got fish tacos with pico de gallo. Strangely, they served garlic bread instead of tortillas or sopapillas. It was really good dipped in the chile sauces.

Now we're going to get a massage. I will not be posting any more this evening. )

As usual, the food looks deelish. What else is there to do in Sante Fe? Shop and eat, right? Has the heat been a factor in your travels? It's freakin' hot here all week long. Jennifer Holliday is staring in Dreamgirls this week at the Muny I am bound and determined to see her. I didn't realize she has multiple sclerosis. I just love her but the thought of sitting in 85 degrees heat for several hours...I don't know if I can do it. But I must! I just need to hear the live music. I'll work this out.

Continued fun travels. I'm sure lots of people are reading your blog and enjoying your pix but they're probably too hot to respond. Or maybe all their fingers are broken. Love ya!

It was beautiful in Santa Fe--it got up to 85 degrees, but the humidity was around 11 percent--absolutely gorgeous!
