So when I said that Tim's household maintenance would be nothing to post about, I was wrong! Here are the before and after shots of his resurfacing of the kitchen cabinets:
Amazing, right? I can't even tell you what a difference it makes in our kitchen. Tim used the Rustoleum Cabinet Transformation kit. It's certainly a great product, but not just anyone could have made it look like Tim did. He is truly a craftsman. Our finishing touches will be a new counter top, but it won't happen in the eleven days before we leave for Alaska! That's right folks, we leave in eleven days! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am! (Did you notice the three exclamation points in a row?)
Have I told you how much I love summer? (Or is the question how many times have I told you?) Summer really does bring a transformation of another kind. Maybe it's more of a decompression. During the school year, nothing really gets accomplished from start to finish in one sitting. Bits and pieces are strung together to make some semblance of order. All the programming, development, and calendars for the next school year happens during the summer. Meetings with the administrators go uninterrupted (other than our own tangents). I can spend hours at my desk, reading, studying, and planning without a discipline issue, a wandering teacher, or a parent phone call. All sense of time is lost. And it is good. There is a sense of accomplishment and some closure on the previous school year. And as of today, I don't miss the kids. The closer it gets to August, the more I look forward to seeing them again...but it's not August yet. I leave the office with ideas floating around in my head instead of bringing the kids home with me. Have I told you how much I love summer?
