So I just had to buy more storage from Picasa for all our pictures. You're not surprised, are you? We took a leisurely bus ride from the McKinley Lodge to the lodge on Kenai Peninsula near Cooper's Landing. We stopped in Anchorage to look around and to eat lunch. This, of course, is only three hours after we stopped for ice cream at ten o'clock in the morning. Excess, plain and simple.
The rugged, sharp, fearsome mountains of the Alaska Range gave way to the beautiful sweeping mountains along Turnagain Pass and the Kenai River. When you think of fishing in Alaska, this is what you would see--a totally different feel and the final lodge of the land tour portion of our journey. The lodge itself is smaller and more intimate, while the rooms are bigger and more "lodge-like." : ) The restaurant is even a slight step above the others we've eaten at--maybe preparing us for the ship. We walked along the river this afternoon then ate a late dinner--trying to be in bed by midnight to hit the ground running tomorrow! I'm a day behind on pictures, but goodness, I need some sleep--thank you to my sister and the assorted others who have commented. It's nice to know that the effort I'm making is not going unread! Cynde, are you out there???

Love, love, love the photos of you and Tim on the glacier and by the plane. Cool glacier boots. They remind me of my old moon boots, back in the day. To see you all in jackets standing on a glacier is almost surreal since it's so darn hot here. I must admit your mountain photos are really gorgeous, seeing as how mountains never change. Spoken like a beach girl.
I'm going to be over near your school today--going to pick up some cocoa butter for cocoa butter cookies and cupcakes. Mmmmmmmm. We could have had dinner but, alas, you are in Alaska. (Early morning humor.) Have a spectacular day!!!
Addie and I have been reading each day and looking at the beautiful pictures. She was facinated with the pictures of the animals you captured.
Looks like you are having a fantastic time. I can't wait for you to make the blueberry ice cream!
Continue to enjoy!
hahaha of course i'm here--cynde
Glad you had a "lodge-like" room. On our trip we stayed one night in a wonderful lodge outside Denali. We could reach off our balcony and touch the pines--beautiful, serene setting. No rubber-stamped motel decor. The next morning several others complained about the lack of television reception! I went to Alaska to watch the scenery, not NBC! Anyway, keep on enjoying and blogging. Happy birthday, Amy. Love, Gene and Helen
