Mission accomplished today. We arrived in Harrisburg, PA around 9:30 p.m. (Eastern time). A good friend of mine (who happened to have lived in Hershey, PA, just a few minutes south of where we are) suggested we find a more appealing place than Harrisburg to stay, but we knew all we were doing was sleeping, showering, and heading to New York tomorrow morning. Tim and I spent time in Hershey during the summer of 2001 road trip, and yes, it is quite lovely, but we just don't have time to enjoy it this trip. Besides, Karen, next time I go to Hershey, PA, you have to come to give me the hometown tour! I have to say, central Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio are not too much more interesting than Kansas when you're just trying to make some time. It's flat; there's lots of corn. In contrast, western Pennsylvania is rolling hills dotted with well-kept farms and farmhouses--much more interesting to view. Tomorrow, we will brave the big city in a vehicle. I hope we make it in one piece! (Tim says, "Me too!")
For those who are new to our blog--on the right is a photo album--each day will have a new link.
