We're on our third day of exploring Acadia National Park. Today, the sun came out! We went back up to Cadillac Mountain, drove the Scenic Park Loop again, and ate popovers (and lunch) at Jordan Pond. See pictures for the first two. The third, apparently, is an Acadia tradition. The popovers were hot out of the oven and served with real butter and strawberry preserves--I loved them; Tim said, "They're too fluffy and airy, too Frenchy." : ) He had one and a grilled chicken sandwich that was okay. I had more than one and a cup of lobster stew--simply huge chunks of lobster, cream, butter, and sherry--oh so good. After our late lunch, we headed south, down Highway 1--the scenic route from Bar Harbor to southern Maine. The highway cuts across harbors, coves, and inlets and through little towns by the water. We stopped for the last meal in Maine, and even though I had lobster stew for lunch, (The lobster chunks were huge, but it was a small cup of stew.) I couldn't resist the lobster for dinner. We stopped at the harbor-side Boothbay Lobster Wharf, where Tim had the lobster roll, and I had a lobster and corn. For dessert--blueberry pie ala mode. We drove on to Portsmouth, New Hampshire to sleep for a few hours then hit the road in the morning.
As an aside, many of you know that my dad has Alzheimer's. He's not doing well and our family will have some tough decisions to make very soon. Please pray for our family.
