The time is drawing near...

As we drove home from our short visit to St. James last Sunday, the sun shining, the foliage green, and the sky blue, my heart literally began to beat faster. We will be taking a trip to the northeastern United States during our summer vacation this year. The view from inside my CR-V on this beautiful day reminded me of the days to come!
The planning for ROADTRIP 2009 (more clever title to come) is under way! We knew we were headed east, but now the details are being planned. Recently, a parent at school asked if we were taking any vacation this summer. I mentioned that we were headed to the northeast but weren't exactly sure, specifically, what we wanted to see and do. Her eyes lit up as she began to describe, in detail, places to visit--she had lived in the northeast! There is nothing better than getting the scoop from someone who has lived where you plan to vacation. She had given me more than I could take in. I asked her to send me an email with a list--I was not disappointed! As I read the list to Tim, he began to get a big grin on his face. I know this is when he gets to work planning. He has some "jumping off" points--now he will begin the research. Thanks, Janet, for the list.

This is also a solicitation for more information. We plan to hit all the northeastern states--small quaint towns as well as NYC and Boston. If you have visited (or better yet, lived there) and have any suggestions about what we need to see and/or experience--now is the time to give us input Leave a comment about where you think we need to go--specifics if you have them!

The posts will be few and far between until we get the show on the road. Check back periodically until July 4 or 5, when we will depart St. Louis and head east! (Isn't that a band of your era, Craig?)

Yes Headeast is a group from my era. They were based out of St. Louis as a matter of fact. Sorry we won't be able to hook up with you on your trip. However we are planning to come to St. Louis the week before July 4th. We should know for sure next week.

Oh goody. I'm so glad you all are coming.  If you were here this weekend we could go to the Rib Festival again!  I'm going to the Gypsy Caravan at 7am on Monday--providing the weather holds out.

Wow, Amy, you have been to some cool places. Now you need to get the book "1000 Places in the USA and Canada to See Before you Die" by Patricia Schultz and start marking it up with places you have visited.
I can't wait to see and read about your trip to the Northeast! Safe travels... Shannon
