Lake and Laid Back

This morning, we watched the sunrise over Lake Louise from our hotel room. There are so many hours of daylight at this time of year. The sun rises a little after five, and even then, the sky is not completely dark. It was a beautiful sunrise.

We headed out to the lake and got another perspective of the place. We took a canoe out on the lake. We were able to see the shoreline and paddle up closer to the glacier.

We headed back to our room to clean up and headed down the Lakeside Grill for lunch. It was delicious. I had a burger and poutine. Tim had a steak sandwich and poutine.

From there, we really were on a hunt for wildlife. We drove about a small part of it in the afternoon, knowing that animals are not typically active in the heat of the day, (which by the way, has been in the low 80s with little to no humidity). Knowing it would be unlikely we headed out anyway. We struck out. At that point, we headed to our lodge for the night and checked in, stretched out, and ate at the lodge restaurant. I had salmon with vegatables and gnocci. Tim had a chicken flatbread. Again, both were very good!

The picture's blown out, but there's a glacier over Tim's right shoulder.

After dinner, we played a little pool and foosball. (For the record, Tim easily won both games of pool; I barely won the one game of foosball we played.)

We headed back out around dusk for another shot at wildlife sightings but struck out again. It's been a pretty laid back day.
